For Lesley Enston, cooking has always been a way to connect to her Caribbean roots. After growing up in Toronto, moving to Brooklyn, and spending a few years in London, she ultimately settled in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Along the way she’s consistently found herself over a stovetop, preparing the dishes her Trini mother first introduced her to, along with all her favorite foods from around the islands—and putting Scotch bonnet in just about everything. Lesley is a seasoned home cook and takes great pleasure in spreading the joy (and heat) of these flavors to her friends and loved ones by way of her famed backyard dinner parties. Better yet, Lesley’s young daughter, Desalin, now plays the role of sous-chef, enjoying the flavors her mother and grandmother cherish so deeply. Scot Louie is an author, celebrity stylist, and creator of the viral food board, DinnerPlus. Brooklyn-bred and raised in a large Jamaican American family that adores food, cooking and exploring exciting flavors has always been a part of who he is. With his premiere cookbook, Tastemaker: Cooking with Spice, Style & Soul, Scot expertly fuses his Jamaican roots with traditional soul food cooking to offer a stunning journey for your tastebuds. He began his virtual food board, DinnerPlus, in 2018. The popularity of this cooking platform across social media led to the launch of his successful DinnerPlus spice line: Oh, Wow Spices by Scot Louie, which is a nod to the iconic one-liner he delivers after preparing and sampling recipes with his social media audience. Scot has made a lasting mark in the fashion and food industries simply by being himself, embracing his culture, and having impeccable taste in both worlds.
