Critical Methods of Social Change: Networking Social
Come network with civil society professionals and students with a shared interest in critical approaches to political and social change. The event takes place in Room SE 1.02.
This event is the second meeting of a new network intending to build mutual support and professional connections for early career professionals who want to understand how best to apply the critical methods they have learnt in their future careers. It is open to anyone with an interest in this area.
We feel that there is currently a gap between academia and civil society: students have the theories and empirical knowledge that can contribute to the shared visions in various civil society’s missions, but there is a lack of opportunities to learn how to apply theory to practice, and also numerous practical barriers to building careers where you can apply this approach.
Join us to…
Chat with other students and professionals from civil society to ask about their career trajectory, lessons learned, and how students can bring critical theories to practice.
Meet likeminded students and share your journey on research/careers
Let us know what would be helpful in an early-careers network going forward!
We look forward seeing you there, and for you to join our network! Any questions, please email info@futurenarrativeslab.org
About the network and this event
The idea for the early career network came out of 'Tools that Trap Us: how our theories & methods limit our political imagination': a workshop hosted by the Future Narratives Lab and the LSE Methodology department on 5th June 2026, bringing together experts from civil society, academia and philanthropy to discuss the limitations of most common methodologies and conceptual tools used in efforts at social and political change.
Future Narratives Lab is a non-profit organisation supporting civil society by co-developing ideas and narratives needed to push their issues up the agenda and build power.
