MAIA AISF Capstone Hackathon (Spring '26)
Through AISF, we hope you've started to develop a stronger understanding of the AI safety space; now it's time to put it to use. During the one-day AISF Capstone Hackathon, you'll work with a team of 2–4 people to build a project in one of three tracks: control, interpretability, or AI strategy (including threat models and governance). This could be a small eval, a probing experiment, a red-teaming setup, an interp replication, a policy memo, a blog post, a demo of a failure mode you read about and wanted to see for yourself, or whatever else you come up with. The goal is to leave the day with something concrete to show for what you've learned, plus a chance to meet the rest of the cohort while you build it. Each team will give a short 3-minute presentation at the end of the day. We'll provide everything you need to get it done: free compute, MAIA members on hand throughout the day to give feedback and help you scope, and of course free food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks).
