RE[TIRE]D

Find Your Freedom Date - a relaxed and fun 90 minute workshop working out how close you really are to walking away from your job.

Here's a question most of us are thinking about: how much is actually enough to quit my job, and how far away am I?

Most people never sit down and answer it. We picture some enormous "retire at 68" number, decide it's hopeless, and put our heads back down. But there's a closer, kinder number hiding in your finances. It's the point where you can stop saving for the future, let what you've already built do the work in the background, and know you're safe by 55, 50 or even 45. For a lot of professionals it's (much) nearer than they'd dare hope. For some, they're already past it but don't know it.

In this workshop, we're going to find yours.

It's a small room, good coffee, and a handful of people at all different stages of the same journey - some will be close, some just starting to wonder. Half the fun is realising you're not the only one thinking about this on your morning commute!

You'll leave with two things:

🎯 Your Freedom Date: your real number, worked out properly with your actual spending, and the date you could stop saving for good. The thing you keep meaning to do and never finish. We finish it, together, on the day.

🔎 A proper read on where you stand: because (spoiler alert) the number's only half the story. We'll look at the five things that really decide whether you are ready to leave your job - money, health, identity, relationships, purpose - and find the one secretly holding you back. It's almost never actually the money. (Honestly, it really isn't.)

The number tells you if you can go. The rest tells you why you haven't.

No spreadsheets-and-suffering. No jargon. Just a good morning, interesting people, and a much clearer picture of a life that might be closer than you assumed.

🎟️ Free. These first few workshops are founding rooms while I shape the format

🪑 Just 8 seats, and one quick question to grab one

Bring one thing: a rough sense of what you spend each month. That's the only homework, we'll do the rest live.

One quick question when you register: where are you right now with the idea of leaving your career one day? (Totally fine if the honest answer is "no idea, just curious" - that's a great place to start.)

Who's running this

I'm Nic 👋 host of Life After Enough, a podcast about the part of financial freedom nobody really talks about: not the spreadsheets, but the leaving. The identity bit. The "who am I if I'm not the job" bit.

I'm a corporate lawyer, twenty years in. I hit my own "freedom number" a while back and kept working anyway, for reasons that had nothing to do with money. I've also done the dramatic version: years ago I quit law to run an adventure fitness business, ran out of money inside two years, and went back to rebuild. So I've leapt without a net and I've stayed too long. I know both, and I know how tangled the decision actually is.

Life After Enough is where I work through all of it, out loud. This workshop is me doing the same thing in a room, with coffee, with you.

What people say afterwards

“The session by Nic, at Life After Enough, was very insightful. Helping me to flip the narrative of how much I need to save on its head. I came to saving in my late 30s and always felt a bit intimidated by the prospect of being single with no support in my old age, worrying if I would have enough money to retire early and continue with my expensive shopping habits. Nic helped me see that saving enough money was achievable and not scary - spoiler alert: I can retire early and still spend money!

The 90 minutes was purposeful, engaging and refreshingly open. Thank you for helping me rethink my future, addressing critical questions not just about money.”

Fiona, August 2026 session

Nic is an excellent storyteller and going to the Life After Enough workshop was pretty life changing. It’s made me rethink how I think about my money. I thought being financially free was something for later in life - but I can see how small steps now will set me up so well for later much earlier than I thought.

Jaime, August 2026 session

RE[TIRE]D is an effective way to get the foundations of FIRE down, work out where you actually are, and start thinking about what happens afterwards, which isn’t something I’d given much thought to before. Nic’s an engaging presenter and he’s open about his own learnings, including the times it didn’t work out, so the whole thing feels very approachable. Highly recommend if you’re just starting out, or if you’ve got the money side sorted but haven’t thought much about the leaving.

Friendly heads-up

This is purely an educational session, not financial advice. I'm not a licensed financial adviser, and anything we work out on the day is rough, illustrative and educational only. For decisions about your own money, do your own research and talk to a qualified professional.
