​Most of us can explain something in words. Fewer can do it in a way that actually sticks. This one-day course gives you a visual language for communicating complex information more clearly - in meetings, presentations and decision-making processes. You don't need to be able to draw. You need to want to communicate better.

​Target Audience & Learning Outcomes

​The course is aimed at managers, project leads and anyone who regularly facilitates meetings, presents information or needs to make complex data understandable - for themselves or for others.

​By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• ​Have a well-founded understanding of why visual communication works

• ​Use a core visual toolkit: shapes, symbols, typography, colour and grouping

• ​Choose the right mapping technique for different situations - brainstorm, customer journey, problem analysis, flow

• ​Turn a real work problem into a visual map that others understand

​Prerequisites & Preparation

​No prior knowledge of drawing or design is needed - that's one of the points of the course.

​Prior to the training we will ask you to submit one or two real situations from your working life where you need to explain, present or map information. That's the material we'll be working with during the day.

​Structure & Content

​A full day with a high proportion of practical exercises, split into four sessions. Each session combines theory with immediate application - you try every tool before moving on to the next.

• ​Session 1 - Why Visualisation Works: The research behind visual communication, dual-coding theory and cognitive load. What live illustration is and when it's the right tool.

• ​Session 2 - Your Visual Toolkit: Everything can be drawn using five basic shapes. Recurring symbols, typography, hierarchy, grouping and colour coding - you practise each one.

• ​Session 3 - Maps and Metaphors: How to use storytelling and imagery to visualise data. Mapping techniques including mind maps, customer journeys, icebergs, flow charts and SWOT - with real examples.

• ​Session 4 - The Safe Simulation: You and your fellow participants work in groups on a real scenario, building a visual map from scratch. Presented and discussed together.

​After the course: a short online follow-up session where you share how you've put what you've learned into practice.

​Facilitator

​Beka is a live illustrator and founder of Conversations Captured, based in Yorkshire, UK. She has worked with visual communication and graphic facilitation for universities, banks, councils and organisations across the UK - and is now bringing this course to Sweden for the first time in collaboration with Kvadrat Kompetens. Her approach is practical and accessible: you don't need to be an artist to learn how to communicate visually.

​Cancellation policy: Cancellations made 4-2 weeks before the course start date will be charged at 50% of the course fee. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the start date will be charged at 100% of the course fee. You are welcome to arrange a replacement participant yourself.
