Put Yourself in the Room: How Women Advocate for Themselves and Stop Waiting to Get Picked
A free, one-hour live workshop for the ambitious woman who's doing the work but watching other people get the title, the room, and the face time with leadership.
Doing great work isn't what gets you promoted. Being seen doing it is. The people who advance are the ones senior leadership can name, vouch for, and picture at the next level, and that visibility doesn't happen to you. You create it by advocating for yourself.
The reason you don't have it already is a story in your head: that a woman who advocates for herself comes off as too much. This free workshop is about getting past that story, in a room of women doing the same work next to you.
You'll walk out with proof you already know how to do this, a simple framework for the moves that actually build your influence, one scripted move that puts your work in front of the people who decide your career, and the clarity to use it Monday of next week.
Here's the hour:
I go first. My own story: where holding back quietly cost me, what changed when I started advocating out loud, and the specific results that followed. Real, not a highlight reel.
Name what it's costing you. A guided reflection on where you're holding back, and the title, raise, or room it's quietly keeping you from.
Find your receipts. We dig up the times you already advocated for yourself and it worked. Most of us think we've never done this. You've done it more than you remember, and the proof matters, because the single best predictor that you'll do it again is knowing you already have.
See what works, and what it gets you. The real data: yes, the double bind is documented and your caution is rational, and here's specifically what self-advocacy has been shown to move, promotions, pay, access, plus real stories of women who did it and what changed for them.
Get the how. Believing self-advocacy matters is one thing. Knowing what to actually do on Monday is another. So before you build your move, I'll give you the three levers that build real influence at work: being someone leadership can name, someone a sponsor will vouch for, and someone they can picture at the next level. Plus the small weekly and monthly moves that make those true on purpose. Your move in the next step comes straight out of this.
Build your move. You'll write one specific thing to say this week, to a specific person, aimed at a specific outcome, the visibility, the ask, the room. Not a someday intention. A sentence with a target.
Capped at 20, on purpose. This only works if the room feels safe enough to say the real thing out loud, and you can't do that lost in a crowd. Small enough that you're not anonymous, big enough that you're not exposed. Grab a seat while there's one open.
This is part of The Birdie Brief's summer series. Come to this one, and you'll leave having already started, not just inspired to.

Kelsey Worsham is a deep tech Chief of Staff and the co-founder of a 1,000+ member career community. She's spent years on both sides of this room: talking herself out of seats she'd earned, and learning to stop. Her gift is language, finding the exact words for what you're feeling but can't quite name, the read that makes a whole room exhale and go "okay, it's not just me."
She and Soumya Maya are building The Birdie Brief for women who want the real, unglamorous career intelligence that usually only travels by back-channel.
