Neurodivergents Unite July 2026
Overview:
Are you looking for a safe space where you don't need to worry about fitting in or performing to "typical" standards? That also lets you express your passions and pains without feeling like the odd one out? Also have fun doing so with the chance to meet new likeminded people? And is completely free?! Then this event may be for you!
Who is this for?
As the name suggests, this group is for those who are diagnosed with (self-diagnosis valid) or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition. These including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, among others.
Duration: 2.5 hours
This event is divided into three rounds:
Round 1: Ice-Breaker Dialogue
You will have a series of prompts. If time permits, the group can answer them all, and go their own direction in the discussion. These prompts are meant to be light in tone, and some may make you laugh or feel a sense of nostalgia.
Round 2: Spider Web Chat
For these events, round 2 changes each month. This time, it is something I call Spider Web Chat. Things we say that others may see as tangents in conversation could be connected more than they seem.
So, with this, each person in the group will briefly describe a subject manner that they are knowledgable or interested in, and everyone will try to see how these topics could connect with each other(threads that make up a whole spider web).
Round 3: Deeper Discussions
Like Round 1, this round involves being in groups and answering prompt questions. However, the questions are more serious in nature, and are mainly related to aspects of life as a neurodivergent, positive, negative, or neutral.
End:
A closing discussion and upcoming announcements.
Breaks and sensory accommodations: If needed, we can take breaks lasting around 5-10 minutes in between rounds to give people time to decompress and loosen up before the next round.
People are encouraged to excuse themselves as needed during a round to take a sensory break. Also, fidget/stim toys are encouraged if they help. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. Of course, if you need to leave the event early for any reason, that is completely understandable.
