UK + EU | Removing the Confidence Gap: Using AI to Improve Access and Quality in Mental Health Care
Be among the first to hear the findings of Tacklit's 2026 AI in Mental Health Services report, examine four real-world implementations and discuss the implications live with Chris Griffiths and your peers.
Beyond speculation: how mental health organisations are using AI today
Demand for mental health services continues to grow, while workforce shortages and constrained resources limit the sector's ability to respond. AI offers significant promise to improve access to and quality of care by reducing administrative work, strengthening decision support and enabling new models of service delivery. Yet many organisations remain uncertain about where to begin, which opportunities are worthwhile and how to manage the associated clinical, ethical and operational risks.
Drawing on three years of implementation experience across Aotearoa, Australia and the UK, this practical session moves beyond speculation to examine how mental health organisations are using AI today. Real-world examples include reducing referral processing from approximately 20 minutes to two minutes, saving clinicians around 10 hours/month in documentation, and doubling the reach of youth mentoring without compromising engagement, satisfaction or outcomes.
Participants will be introduced to practical frameworks for assessing AI opportunities by risk and return, determining the appropriate level of AI autonomy, and building the systems, governance and organisational capability required for responsible adoption. The objective is not AI adoption itself. It is helping mental health organisations use AI confidently to improve access to and quality of care.
