​Book Presentation: Ground Rules by Alejandro Cartagena
Followed by the gallery’s annual celebratory brunch

​Ground Rules is the first comprehensive, fully bilingual survey of the work of acclaimed photographer Alejandro Cartagena. Known for seminal photobooks such as Carpoolers (2014) and A Small Guide to Homeownership (2020), Cartagena has built a practice defined by formally rigorous and socially incisive images addressing suburban sprawl, the politics of the US–Mexico border, and widening economic disparities across North America.

​The publication brings together documentary photography, collage, appropriated vernacular imagery, and AI-generated works, all unified by Cartagena’s sharp visual language and his ability to approach Mexico’s most urgent social and environmental issues with both humor and pathos.

​Published to coincide with Cartagena’s mid-career solo exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, on view from November 2025 through May 2026.

​Following the presentation, guests are invited to join the gallery’s annual celebratory brunch.
