​The Major Richard Star Act will eliminate the "wounded veterans’ tax" the unfair federal rule that forces combat-injured, medically retired veterans to surrender their military retirement pay dollar-for-dollar to receive their VA disability compensation.

​Across New York City, 10 out of 11 House representatives have put politics aside and signed Discharge Petition No. 22 to force a clean, up-or-down floor vote. Rep. Nicole Malliotakis is a cosponsor of the bill, but remains the sole holdout in NYC refusing to sign the petition that brings it to the floor.
