About the Speakers:
Erica Kangas is the Head of Engineering and a founding team member at Scroobious, a platform dedicated to increasing diversity in the startup ecosystem by connecting early-stage founders, investors, and ecosystem partners. Throughout her career, Erica has held engineering leadership roles at early-stage startups, including serving as Vice President of Engineering at Dough, an e-commerce platform supporting women-owned businesses, and as Director of Engineering at LearnLux, a provider of workplace financial wellness programs. She earned her B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Michigan State University. Erica is passionate about diversity, inclusion, and equity in tech, education, and economic opportunity. As Head of Engineering at Scroobious, she leads the hiring process for software engineers, focusing on building inclusive and effective teams.
Chris Demwell is the Vice President of Engineering at Shortcut, a project management platform designed to unify software development teams. Passionate about building dynamic companies, Chris fosters environments where engineers are challenged and inspired to do their best work. He is a strong advocate for psychological safety in engineering teams, frequently writing and speaking about the importance of aligning tools and metrics with organizational values. Chris holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. As VP of Engineering at Shortcut, he leads the hiring process, focusing on creating a culture that supports learning and growth.
