LFG x Buffering Britain x Chicken Rush

​IWhat happens when you unleash a giant game of hide-and-seek across central London – and test the city’s mobile signal at the same time?

​On Saturday 19 September, LFG, Buffering Britain and Chicken Rush are taking over central London for an afternoon of city-wide fun.

​Chicken Rush is hide-and-seek for adults. One or two people become The Chicken and disappear into London. Everyone else splits into teams, tracks them using a live map and races across the city completing challenges, earning points and trying to find The Chicken first.

​There’s one problem: the whole thing relies on mobile data. This time, alongside the hunt, players will use the Buffering Britain app to test their mobile connection as they move through central London, helping us build a picture of where London’s mobile networks keep up – and where they don’t. Buffering Britain will use the data in their campaign to show the Government where we need to invest in this essential infrastructure.

​Chicken Rush founder Fred Parry knows the problem first-hand: “I run a small business whose product lives or dies on mobile data. With all the talk of London becoming a tech capital, it's embarrassing that we have to warn players about patchy signal in the middle of the city and design our game around coverage blackspots.”

​We’ll meet at Covent Garden at 2pm. Speeches will begin at 2:30pm, before the game starts at 3pm. The hunt will run until 5pm, when everyone will converge on The Chicken’s hiding place for drinks, the final leaderboard and the crowning of the winning team.

​Drinks will continue until 7:30pm.

​Tickets are £20 per person. All proceeds go towards supporting Chicken Rush.

​No special equipment is needed – just bring a charged smartphone, comfortable shoes and a willingness to chase The Chicken around London.
