Lunch and Learn- Getting Beyond Basic Requesting: Expanding Language Function

​Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is frequently limited to basic requesting, but true functional communication requires commenting, questioning, describing, and social engagement across the school day. This session focuses on embedding AAC directly into core academic instruction while aligning expectations across classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). Participants will examine collaborative push-in support models and learn how to leverage district tools—such as Glint—to instantly generate customized visual supports and communication boards that drive active student participation.
