The role of distributors and intermediaries in cross-border trade
Bernardo Blum is Professor of Economic Analysis and Policy at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and Director of the Rotman Institute for International Business (RIIB). As an international trade economist, his research examines the determinants of trade patterns, the institutions that facilitate trade, and the costs that firms incur in moving goods and services across borders, including influential work on per-shipment trade costs that shows how the practical frictions of exporting shape firm behaviour and national economic performance. His work is published in top economics journals and informs trade-policy discussion in Canada and internationally. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in International Economics and has led the Global Manager Initiative (GMI) at the University of Toronto. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles.
