I like to believe in soul music as a love language. The feeling when our hearts feel heard — by soulful rhythms, voices, and melodies — it’s transcendent. This music teaches us about love in all its facets. How to care for not just romantic love, but the love we have for ourselves, and each other. Soul music allows empathy to form in this way, it has this great power to shape us, and I wish to share and explore that together throughout the night. Expect a music-forward experience that invites you to open up and groove as a flow of personal reflections and poetry layer in upon shades of color and visuals.
The space will be open 3pm onwards with non-alcoholic cocktails and tea for sale. Listening room starts at 8pm, with pre-show music selections starting 7.15pm. Please respect your fellow listeners by keeping noise to a minimum once show has started.
About Piscespace
Joshua (aka piscespace) is a visual storyteller, DJ, and event organizer living in and creating from Oakland. His work ranges from cinematography, to curated music events, to textile work through dyed and sewn projects and more. Through these varied avenues of expression the intent always centers the heart, the beauty and strength of community and our connection to nature. In this spirit, Joshua’s passion is to serve as part of the connective tissue that bonds the people of the Bay Area, and beyond.
