About Event

Welcome to The Open Door: Sustaining the Work

A collaboration between After The Sessions and Serein

What does it take to sustain a life and career in counselling?

The financial realities. The emotional load. The uncertainty. The loneliness. And the quiet question many of us ask: can I sustain the work I care about?

You're not the only one asking. The Open Door is a space for counsellors to pause, talk honestly, and connect with others navigating similar questions.

What you'll do

💬 90 min — Facilitated conversation

Explore the realities of sustainability through small-group rotational discussions.

🎨 60 min — Expressive art experience
Turn reflections into a collective artwork through expressive art and OH Cards, facilitated by Serein.

What you'll walk away with

  • Clarity on what's making this career hard, and the relief of "it's not just me"

  • Practical ideas from peers that you can start practising immediately

  • A circle of counsellors across different career stages and work settings

  • A piece of our community artwork to take home, a reminder that you don't have to carry this work alone

Come with your experiences. Leave with new perspectives, new connections, and a piece of what we created together.
