How I Got Here: Launching the UK’s first female founded padel club in London, with Lauren van der Westhuizen, founder of House of Racquet

We've launched a brand new event series called 'How I Got Here' - real conversations with real founders, building brilliant businesses and sharing their experiences. These events are like the ultimate coffee with the girls; just 12 founders enjoying a coffee and a real insight into how a fellow founder has - and is - smashing it!

There are moments that quietly reshape life. For Lauren van der Westhuizen, that moment came after years spent climbing the career ladder. As a lawyer for global technology companies including Google and eBay, she had built a successful professional life. Yet behind the achievements was an uncomfortable truth: success had come at an expense.

Lauren never imagined her route into entrepreneurship would begin with burnout. What followed was a complete reimagining of work, wellbeing and sport, driven by a growing belief that the three didn’t have to exist in separate worlds.

Today, as founder and CEO of London's House of Racquet, the UK’s first female-founded padel lifestyle club, Lauren is creating spaces that challenge long-held assumptions about who sport and networking is designed for and who gets to shape it.

This is an honest conversation about what it actually takes to build a physical, community-led business from scratch in one of the world's most expensive cities: the planning permissions, the funding conversations, the moments of doubt, and the decisions that made it real. For any founder building something that didn't exist before, in any sector, this one is for you.
