Nigerian Music in the Age of Platformization
Hosted by T.A. Oke & Dr. Ajayi
About Event
Digital platforms are central to the production, distribution, promotion, and consumption of Nigerian music. While streaming and social media have expanded its global circulation, they have also introduced new pressures around visibility, metrics, monetisation, copyright, creative labour, and dependence on platform infrastructures.
This one-day symposium brings together researchers, musicians, producers, artist managers, music executives, students, and other industry stakeholders to explore these transformations. Emphasising dialogue between academic research and practitioners’ experiences, the symposium situates Nigerian music within broader global transformations in platform economies.

KAAF Auditorium, Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
