Junto left a thriving creative career in New York to answer an unexpected family call, spent 10 years in China leading the family manufacturing business through turbulent political and economic shifts, and eventually found his way back to the work he loves.
Join Junto Nozawa ’02 (LinkedIn) as he reflects on a journey that took him from a career as a Senior Producer in New York to an abrupt call from his dying mother. Without hesitation, he moved to China to lead the family manufacturing business, a responsibility he embraced with purpose. He brought creativity, empathy, and user-centered problem-solving into a world far removed from New York's creative and tech scenes. Leading cross-cultural teams through volatile business and geopolitical climates, he learned that true strength often lies in quiet perseverance.
After a decade away, Junto returned to the corporate world. Today, as UX/UI Design Manager at Cathay Pacific, he leads a team of 20 designers, blending operational clarity with creative vision and applying the hard-won lessons of leadership from his years outside the traditional path.
