Smallholder Agroforestry Solutions: A hard nut worth cracking

A Climate Week NYC panel on scaling smallholder reforestation into investment-grade carbon projects

About Event

We all know the problem: demand for high-quality nature-based removals exceeds supply, and that supply needs to be high quality and at scale to be investable. But large-scale commercial forestry can be non-additional with fewer intrinsic co-benefits, and locking up large tracts of land in non-productive native restoration is challenging on multiple fronts.

What then, is the solution? Working with smallholder farmers has the potential to generate high-quality credits with multiple benefits — but aggregating and scaling into investment-grade projects isn't easy.

Join GreenCollar for a panel discussion drawing on hands-on experience from industry experts, digging into the key challenges and solutions to developing investment-grade reforestation projects with smallholder farmers — from planting designs that balance farmer interest, carbon sequestration and biodiversity, to leakage mitigation, permanence, data collection, land tenure, FPIC and investment-grade due diligence.
