Tethics & Chill [NYC Breakfast]: Leveraging AI for democracy w/ NYU's Zeve Sanderson and Jigsaw's Beth Goldberg
We're excited to host Zeve Sanderson, the Executive Director of the NYU Center for Social Media & Politics, for our next Tethics & Chill breakfast event. At NYU, he leads a research center that works to strengthen democracy that advances evidence-based public policy and trains the next generation of scholars. His own research topics have included genAI, search engines, social media, and content moderation.
Zeve will be in conversation with Beth Goldberg, the Head of Research & Development at Jigsaw, an interdisciplinary Google unit that explores threats to open societies.
Please join Zeve and Beth for an in-person installment of Tethics & Chill in Soho. Over breakfast on Wednesday, January 15, we'll discuss:
Discussion of new research on leveraging generative AI to support democratic politics, and protecting against the impacts of generative AI on elections
What are some lessons learned from social media trust & safety work that can be applied to ensuring safe and responsible development of AI systems?
Reflections on building cross-sector partnerships across industry, policymakers, and civil society to align research with real-world impact
We'll get started by 9:15am and have a chance to mingle with friends after hearing from Zeve and Beth.
Stay tethical,
Zoe & Farhan
