Israel's Children After October 7: Recognizing Trauma Before It Takes Root
A free webinar exploring how early recognition, timely intervention, and stronger support systems can help protect the mental health and resilience of Israel's children.
Nearly three years after October 7, the impact of that day and the prolonged war, displacement, loss, and uncertainty that followed continues to affect children and young people across Israel, particularly in communities most directly exposed to trauma.
Join us for a timely conversation with Dr. Michael Band, clinical psychologist and co-founder of the Arbel Institute, who has been working directly with children, families, educators, and communities affected by the war.
Drawing on more than 30 years of clinical experience and his work on the ground since October 7, Dr. Band will share what he is seeing among children and youth in some of Israel's most affected communities, including the Gaza Envelope, Ashkelon, and Kiryat Shmona. He will discuss how trauma can manifest in children, why recognizing the signs early matters, and how timely intervention can help reduce the risk of longer-term psychological difficulties.
The conversation will also explore the critical role of schools in recovery. Dr. Band will discuss why equipping teachers, principals, and other school professionals with the knowledge and tools to recognize and respond to trauma is essential to protecting children's mental health and strengthening resilience.
Since October 7, the Arbel Institute has conducted more than 2,500 trauma-processing, support, and professional training sessions, working alongside affected communities through displacement, loss, return, and the ongoing process of recovery.
Registration is free.
Join us to better understand the invisible impact of trauma on Israel's children and what can be done before those wounds become lasting ones.
