About Event

Join us on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 PM at The Gatehouses at Kings County Distillery in Brooklyn for a special Women’s Month edition of The Tortured Bloggers Department — and a celebration of the release of E.M. Gallagher’s new book, Ugh. Anyway... presented by Pink Ink Press.

Expect a night of hilarious, heartwarming, and chaotically charming tales told by a lineup of brave baddies including E.M.Gallagher, Melissa Meier, Allison Ziggy, and Cara Alwill.

The Tortured Bloggers Department is a live nonfiction reading series devoted to stories about love in all its forms — the relationships we fight for, the ones we walk away from, and the ever-evolving one we have with ourselves.

In honor of Ugh. Anyway... we’ll also be celebrating with a special playlist curated by the author, a signature cocktail inspired by the book, and a few other surprises.

If you're a lover girl who feels it all… this night is for you. ❤️

Doors open at 7 PM
First reading begins at 7:15 PM sharp

Complimentary bites will be provided. Signature cocktails and drinks will be available at the bar.

RSVP now to grab your seat.

WHO'S READING:

E.M. Gallagher is a New Yorker, retired hellraiser, and recovering middle school English teacher. She has told unhinged and mildly inappropriate stories at salons and storytelling shows across New York City, including Generation Women, Miss Manhattan, Seanchoíche, and The Tortured Bloggers Department.

Her writing lives at the intersection of love, ambition, bad decisions, and the quiet, insistent voice that tells you there has to be more. She lives in Jersey City with her husband and too many plants.

Allison Ziegler (also know as Allison Ziggy) is a writer, and business owner with her own line of manifestation planners and journals. She has created journaling communities in NYC and Philly under the name "The Calendar Club." Her Substack (and upcoming first book) is appropriately titled Princess Uninterrupted, and she writes about love, heartbreak and what it really takes to push past doubt to create the life of your dreams.

Marianna Pease

Marianna Pease is a writer of essays on the themes of worth, reinvention, healing after divorce, and single motherhood. She is the author of two books, the most recent of which, My Year(s) in the Woods was published last fall by Pink Ink Press. She writes the blog 1-800 Marianna on Substack and has a new literary salon in Harvard Square where she is based out of Boston.

Meet Our Co-Producer, Melissa Meier

Melissa is a “reality star” of bravo proportions. She uses the term star very loosely. A 20 year veteran nyc cocktail maven, former improv drop out and avid writer. Founder of the queer Cabaret, two time guest on watch what happens live- once as the bartender and once as drag Sean spicer, she loves making people laugh, even at her own expense. Her biggest claim to fame is being on a TV show with Mr T when she was 7 years old and telling him he was “very scary.” You can find her telling stories to anyone who will listen at various storytelling events throughout NYC and anywhere else she has a captive audience. She prefers dogs to most people. Melissa also runs everything you see here at Kings County distillery, including their social media, the cocktail program and all things bar and bourbon related.
