You’re invited to the inaugural salon of The Future of Humanity: an intimate, thoughtfully curated series where we explore how technology is impacting us. In this first gathering, we ask:
If AI can produce excellent outputs for us, are we outsourcing not just our work, but the development of our own thinking? If we skip the struggle of the process, do we lose the ability to actually know what we know?
A neuroscientist just told the U.S. Senate that Gen Z is the first generation in modern history to score lower on standardized tests than their parents, after the US has spent $30 billion putting laptops & tablets in classrooms. The more time students spent on computers in school, the worse they performed. Turns out the friction we engineered out of learning was an ingredient key to learning.
AI is the next version of this. The question for the rest of us is whether we're sacrificing something in exchange for this tech, & what we can actually do to protect against sacrifices.
Inspired by the literary salons of 17th-century France, this series consists of intimate gatherings of no more than 15 people, unifying artists, economists, scientists, philosophers, & people who simply use AI at work daily. This discourse belongs to all of us, not just the people building it. We're a modern salon for modern thinkers.

Ahead of each discourse, we'll suggest some reading materials totaling no more than an hour - we strongly suggest participants to digest them prior to joining us.
We'll be providing light refreshments, but this event is BYOB.
