5. Visa Information
Delegates travelling to Tanzania for the AFRICON MSME Summit & Awards 2026 must ensure they obtain the appropriate visa before arrival.
The Government of Tanzania provides two main visa options:
1. Electronic Visa (eVisa) – recommended
2. Visa on Arrival
Applications can be submitted through the official visa portal: https://visa.immigration.go.tz/
Tanzania eVisa (Recommended)
The eVisa system allows travellers to apply online before travelling to Tanzania.
Visa Fees
Visa Type Fee: Ordinary Single Entry Visa $50
Most conference participants apply for the Ordinary Single Entry Visa ($50).
Documents Required for Visa Application
Applicants may be required to provide:
• Passport valid for at least 6 months
• Passport-size photograph
• Travel itinerary or flight details
• Hotel booking confirmation
• Official invitation letter from the event organiser
6. Health Requirements
Travellers arriving from countries with Yellow Fever risk may be required to present a Yellow Fever vaccina-tion certificate upon arrival.
Delegates are encouraged to check travel health requirements prior to departure.
7. Weather
Moderate warm temperatures.
Average temperatures: 22°C – 30°C
Light clothing is recommended for daytime activities, while business attire is appropriate for conference ses-sions and the Gala Dinner.
8. Currency
Local currency: Tanzanian Shilling (TZS)
However, US Dollars are widely accepted in hotels and many service establishments.
ATMs and currency exchange services are widely available in the city centre.
9. Local Transport
Recommended transport options include:
Hotel taxis
Ride-hailing services
Event-organised transport for official activities
Most conference venues and recommended hotels are located within the central business district of Dar es Salaam.
10. Safety & General Advice
Dar es Salaam is a major international city and business hub.
Delegates are advised to:
Use registered taxis or hotel transport
Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
Follow standard travel safety practices
11. Visa Support
