2026 NWR Chicago Marathon Weekend
Welcome to the Native Women Running (NWR) Chicago Marathon Weekend! Whether you are toeing the start line, cheering on a loved one, or simply want to support Indigenous representation in the running community, this weekend is for you.
We’ve combined two incredible events into one unified weekend dedicated to connection, celebration, and community. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming hub for Indigenous runners, families, friends, and allies to come together and celebrate the journey to the Chicago Marathon.
Join us for one or both of our weekend events:
👟 Saturday: NWR Community Shakeout Run/Walk
Doors open at 9:00 AM
Kick off marathon weekend with movement and community! The NWR Shakeout Run/Walk is the perfect opportunity to shake off those pre-race nerves, connect with the Native Women Running team, and meet fellow Indigenous runners and allies. Whether you’re running 26.2 miles on Sunday or just want to enjoy a light walk with great company, all paces and faces are welcome!
We'll be creating signs for the Cheer Station too!
🎉 Sunday: Marathon Cheer Station & Safe Space Hub Doors open at 9:00 AM CST
Race day is here, and we’re bringing the energy! Our NWR Cheer Station is designed to be a safe, comfortable home base for our community. Friends, family, and allies are invited to use this indoor space to securely store your belongings, relax, and stay comfortable while waiting for your runners. Step outside to our cheer zone along the route to bring your loudest voices, celebrate, and uplift the runners as they pass by!
