Writing Across Generations: Malinda Seneviratne and Savin Edirisinghe - Panel Discussion with Sachinthani Ketakumbura
“Writing Across Generations” brings together two acclaimed Sri Lankan writers whose careers represent two distinct literary eras. Malinda Seneviratne, poet, translator, and winner of the Gratiaen Prize (2013) has spent decades shaping the country’s literary landscape, further recognized with the H A I Goonetilleke Award for Literary Translation in both 2012 and 2021. Joining him is Savin Edirisinghe, Gratiaen Prize winning author of Kata Katha (2025), Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and Creative Marketing Strategist, representing a new generation of storytellers navigating contemporary forms and challenges.
The conversation will be moderated by Sachinthani Ketakumbara of Poe3LK, guiding an exploration of how writing shifts across time, how influences, expectations, and creative freedoms evolve from one generation to the next. This panel invites audiences to witness two literary worlds meeting on the same stage, offering insight into craft, legacy, and the future of Sri Lankan writing.
