Birthing Kits Assembling
Join us for Golden Z @ UofT's first event of the semester - assembling birthing kits! We'll be together for a fun Saturday morning putting these kits together by hand, to provide clean and hygienic conditions for women giving birth in remote or underserved regions of the developing world. These kits help prevent fatal infections and reduce maternal and newborn mortality rate.
What's Inside a Kit (materials will be sponsored by Zonta Clubs and Golden Z UofT)
Plastic sheet — provides a clean surface for the birth environment
Soap — for washing the hands of the mother and the birth attendant
Disposable gloves — protects against bacteria transmission
Sterile scalpel or razor blade — used for cleanly cutting the umbilical cord
Umbilical cord ties/strings — safely ties off the cord
Gauze squares — used for wiping and cleaning the newborn and mother
Once assembled, our kits will be delivered by World Vision to developing countries, going directly to the mothers and families who need them.
Thank you for supporting our mission!
