First Light

​Friends,

​I've been in this industry a long time, and most of what I'm proud of never happened at a trade show. It happened in someone's backyard at dusk, or on a job site at 6 AM with people who cared about getting it right. That's the room I want to be in. So I'm building one.

​On Wednesday, October 21, opening night of Equip, I'm hosting one night at Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville. Bourbon, a good meal, a tour of the distillery, and a room full of contractors, designers, and the four companies backing this with me. That night we're founding something to protect the craft of this industry and pass it to the next generation. No tuition, no course, no sales pitch. I'm not going to explain the rest in an email. I want to tell you in person.

​A word on seats. There are 120, and 40 are already spoken for. I'm confirming each of the remaining 80 myself, because I want the room to be the right people, not the most people. Requesting a seat doesn't guarantee one, and I'd rather say that now than disappoint you later. When it's full, it's full.
