make a nice personal website in 30mins
tl:dr; by the end of the half-hour, you'll have a super clean, one-page personal website live on yourname [dot] com (or whatever domain you like). hosted for free, forever.
but…why have a personal site? Isn’t that linkedIn?
backstory: I used to run a super-selective freelancer community. 100s of applications each week. but when folks had a personal site, I LOVED it. it made it so much more human to quickly see what they were about and whether we'd be a mutual a fit. it also made our interviews & conversations 10x better since it became so much easier to find interesting things to talk about.
unfortunately, even in 2023, it's still too annoying to make a simple personal site. that's why most folks still don't have one. squarespace and wix are they're expensive, overkill, and geared toward businesses. webflow and wordpress are too hard. and there's no such thing as a linktree or an aboutme that actually looks good.
so Matt and I built realnice to be the simplest, most delightful site builder ever made. for folks who've never made one before — or tried with other tools but got frustrated.
at the end of the half-hour, you'll have a site live on the internet. it'll look great, be mobile-friendly, and hosted free-forever. we're intentionally keeping the group small to make sure we get everyone's site up together, but feel free to share, especially with folks looking for their next thing.
