Speakeasy Salsa · No. 01 · Opening Night
The club opens on the feeling songs. Saturday 17 October, Loft in Flatiron — the first of six numbered nights this fall, and a Filin night: the Havana music that took its name from the English word feeling, carried by the DJ, the floor open, the lights low.
A Flatiron loft dressed like a speakeasy: exposed brick, a living wall of green, gold palm fronds hanging as lamps, a round gold mirror by the bar, and a dance floor laid for the night. You sit close because the room is built that way, and dance close because the songs ask you to — bring someone worth the slow ones.
Doors at 10, the intro lesson from 10:30 to 11, the floor after. The bar is open all night, last pour at 12:30, lights up at 1.
As featured in Time Out New York — "a dressed-up atmosphere that feels considerably more glamorous than your average night out."
