Happy 250th, America!
Come and celebrate the Semiquincentennial of the United States!
It was 250 years ago.
In the face of deathly uncertainty and staggering odds, These United States declared, upon written principle and deliberate reason, that they were free and independent. Their Declaration, our heritage, is the touchstone of liberty the world over. Since July 4, 1776, America has sought--never perfection--but a more perfect Union. And more perfect we shall be, guided by the principles first laid down in our Declaration of Independence.
John Winthrop's immortal words of 1630, before making landfall in the new Massachusetts Bay Colony, are true: "We must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us."
Come to the roof, bring your friends, and bring some food and beverage to share
Come and enjoy superb company, food, singing, and fireworks on the roof of Fractal Campus this Fourth of July. We'll have pizza and drinks, and we'd love if you could bring something to share too. America has the whole future ahead, and it is good and right that we celebrate its achievements before pressing onward! We'll be there from 6pm until 10pm (and maybe later).
And we will remember the heart of the holiday:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."
