CBCT IN DENTISTRY: You Can't Treat What You Can't See

[ Course Overview ]

You can't treat what you can't see. Why do excellent dentists sometimes miss critical lesions? The reason is rarely a lack of knowledge—it’s the lack of proper 3D diagnostic tools.

This lecture bridges advanced CBCT radiology and cognitive psychology. Dr. Odabashian reveals how relying on limited 2D imaging compounds mental blind spots like the "Satisfaction of Search" and "Cognitive Dissonance." Discover how to break free from these psychological traps and leverage CBCT as a clear 3D pathway for accurate diagnosis, easy treatment navigation, and predictable outcomes.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Implement a 3D Pathway: Use CBCT to uncover hidden pathology missed by traditional 2D scans.

  • Identify Diagnostic Biases: Recognize how inadequate imaging combined with cognitive biases silently impacts accuracy.

  • Overcome the "Satisfaction of Search": Apply systematic 3D review protocols to prevent missed diagnoses.

  • Navigate Cognitive Dissonance: Realize that cognitive dissonance is a common phenomenon and take steps to update your understanding and habits after being presented with new information.

  • Elevate Treatment Planning: Apply advanced CBCT techniques to confidently navigate complex treatments across all dental disciplines.

This course addresses common clinical questions and diagnostic challenges encountered in CBCT interpretation and implant planning.
