About Event

Move for Markets, Brooklyn

Description:
Join the Black Women Investors Network for Move for Markets, our summer long walking and fundraising campaign. Move for Markets invites our community to log miles and raise funds individually throughout the summer, all building toward a collective goal of 1,270 miles, the distance from Wall Street in New York to the historic Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, once known as Black Wall Street.

This initiative reflects our broader mission: to celebrate entrepreneurship during Black Business Month, expand access to alternative investments, and support a more representative investor community.

Participants can join our Strava group to log miles and track our collective progress throughout the campaign.

On August 9, we come together for a midsummer celebration walk from Fort Greene Park to DUMBO, marking the midway point of the campaign and a chance to celebrate progress and carry the momentum forward. Move for Markets runs through September 6.

Participants will set off from Fort Greene Park and make their way five miles through Brooklyn to DUMBO, pausing at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade for skyline views and a group photo. This is a walk, not a race; all paces are welcome. The event will close in DUMBO with local pop-ups, vendor highlights, and refreshments.

Participants should bring water, comfortable shoes, and friends.

Order of Events:

  • 10:00 AM — Check-in and mingle at Fort Greene Park

  • 10:30 AM — Welcome remarks and group stretch

  • 10:45 AM — Walk begins toward DUMBO

  • 12:00 PM — Skyline photo stop at the Promenade

  • 2:00 PM — Closing, local pop-ups and refreshments
