​A day in the Rokko mountains ending at Arima Onsen, one of Japan’s oldest hot spring towns.

​🗓️ Program

• ​🚡 12:00 · Rokko Cable from Rokko Cable Shita up to Rokko Sanjo (about 10 min)

• ​🚌 ~12:15 · Sanjo bus to Rokko Sancho (summit) station (about 11 min)

• ​From there, choose:

  • ​🥾 Hike to Arima Onsen, about 2h

  • ​🚠 Ropeway to Arima, ¥1,400 one way

• ​♨️ ~14:30 to 15:00 · Arrive in Arima: lunch, onsen and free time

• ​🍽️ Evening · Dinner in Arima (pay your own)

• ​🚆 Return · Kobe Electric Railway to Sannomiya, about 30 to 40 min

​📌 Getting there

• ​⏰ Be at Rokko Cable Shita Station by 11:45 to catch the 12:00 cable.

• ​🚃 From Sannomiya (about 40 min): Train to Rokko station, then the Kobe city bus to Rokko Cable Shita.

• ​🚄 From Tokyo: Take a shinkansen leaving Tokyo around 8:00.

• ​🗺️ Check exact times on Google Maps for Saturday.

​💳 Payment on the Sanjo bus: Contactless credit card or cash only. ICOCA, Suica and other transit IC cards are not accepted.

​🏨 Staying the night? You’re welcome to stay in Arima Onsen, but please book your own accommodation.

​🎒 Bring: Walking shoes, water, snacks (lunch is around 14:30), an onsen towel, and cash.

​💴 Rough cost: About ¥5,000 to 9,000 for transport, onsen and dinner, without accommodation.
