For October’s Business Lunch & Learn, Andréa LaVant, founder and president of LaVant Consulting, will lead an interactive conversation on disability, language, and the assumptions that can show up in the way we communicate.
We’ll talk about how to recognize ableist language, what to say instead, how different models of disability influence the stories we tell, and how to move beyond common tropes and stereotypes.
This is practical. You’ll leave with language you can actually use and more confidence navigating conversations about disability in your business, workplace, and community.
Andréa brings deep experience in access-centered cultural strategy. Her work includes serving as impact producer for Netflix’s Oscar-nominated documentary Crip Camp, and LaVant Consulting has worked with organizations including Google, Netflix, Verizon, the Obama Foundation, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
