Nowruz 2026 at San Francisco City Hall
Kazakh American Association of Silicon Valley is inviting you to join us for a vibrant celebration of Nowruz, an ancient spring holiday that marks the renewal of nature and the arrival of the new year across many cultures of the Middle East and Central Asia, including Kazakhstan.
Celebrated for more than 3,000 years, Nowruz symbolizes spring, renewal, hope, and unity. Communities across the Bay Area will gather at San Francisco City Hall to honor this shared tradition through culture, music, and community connection.
The celebration is hosted by San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, Former Supervisor Ahsha Safai, and Persian Women in Tech, bringing together diverse communities of the Bay Area to celebrate this shared cultural heritage.
This year’s event will also highlight Kazakh traditions and heritage, helping introduce elements of Central Asian culture to the broader Silicon Valley community.
A Special Cultural Feature
For the first time in Silicon Valley, a traditional Kazakh yurt—a symbol of Kazakhstan’s nomadic heritage—will be installed at San Francisco City Hall. Visitors will have a rare opportunity to step inside the yurt and experience an iconic element of Kazakh culture and Central Asian history in one of the city’s most historic civic spaces.
This unique cultural feature has been made possible through the initiative, work, and contribution of the Kazakh American Association of Silicon Valley with the support of Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in San Francisco .
