International Generalist Day - NYC Washington Square Park - Flâneur Walk and Social Drinks
Celebrate International Generalist Day with a Flâneur Walk followed by a food and drinks at Pier 57!
Are you a generalist?
Generalists: professionals who apply their skills across multiple domains, connect disparate ideas, or serve as ‘translators’ between different teams.
If you’ve ever struggled to explain what you do because your experience doesn’t fit neatly into one box, you’ll probably find your people here.
What is Flaneuring?
Flâneuring: to wander aimlessly, with the purpose of observing urban life.
We’ll take a relaxing and social walk from Washington Square Park to the Hudson River, moving slowly through a shifting landscape of city streets and spaces as the character of the city changes block by block.
Along the way we'll do what generalists do best: follow our curiosity, notice connections, and explore what’s around us without needing to know exactly where it will lead.
Expect thoughtful conversation, fresh ways of seeing the city, and a chance to reflect along the way. By the end, you’ll leave with new perspectives and connections with fellow generalists.
6:00–7:15 PM — Flâneur Walk
We’ll walk together from Washington Square Park to the Hudson River, ending near Little Island and Pier 57.
7:15–8:30 PM — Social at Pier 57
We’ll gather at Pier 57 for more conversation, food, drinks, and golden hour on the waterfront. You’re welcome to join just for this second part if you can’t make the walk.
Food and Drinks available for purchase at Pier 57. Food service ends at 8:00 PM.

Eric Chung has been a NYC tour guide, dog groomer, personal coach, and most recently a talent professional in health tech. His current passion is creating communities and events for people who like to think across disciplines, make serendipitous connections, and meet others who see the world differently.
