Community Education Evening- Stopping the Spread of Rush Skeletonweed

​Mosier neighbors,

​A silent invader is threatening Mosier area wildflower meadows and properties. We invite you to join local experts and community members for an evening to learn and talk about rush skeletonweed and how you can help stop it from spreading. Early detection of this invasive Eurasian plant is important, as is knowing how to control it since it can be difficult to eradicate and increases if mown or cut back. You will learn how to identify rush skeletonweed and different methods of controlling it, including important measures that can be taken in late summer & fall. We will hear a presentation from Brad Mead, Columbia Land Trust land steward and steering committee member of the Columbia Gorge Cooperative Weed Management Area, followed by a panel discussion with area experts including the Wasco County Weed Master (Wasco County Soil & Water Conservation District), Friends of the Columbia Gorge Land Trust, Humble Roots Nursery and Mosier community members who will share their knowledge and experience from years of working to stop rush skeletonweed from spreading. If we each do a little, it equals a lot, so please join us to learn how to help stop the spread of rush skeletonweed and protect your property, your property value, your neighbor’s property, and the fields of wildflowers we all love!
