Mount Mark via Horne Lake Hustle
Join us for a challenging summit hike with incredible views overlooking Horne Lake and the surrounding mountains!
This 9.8 km out-and-back starts with a steady climb along a forest service road before transitioning into a much steeper ascent toward the summit of Mount Mark.
After the first few kilometers, the real work begins as we tackle a rugged trail that climbs directly up the mountainside.
The upper section is steep, dusty, and demanding, with ropes installed along several sections to assist hikers on the climb. While the ropes make the ascent more manageable, this is still a physically challenging hike that requires good fitness, balance, and proper footwear.
The effort is well worth it. From the summit, we'll be rewarded with stunning views of Horne Lake, the surrounding mountain ranges, and Vancouver Island's beautiful backcountry.
We'll take some time at the top to enjoy the scenery, refuel, and snap a few photos before making our way back down.
This is a great hike for those looking for a serious workout and a rewarding summit without committing to a full-day alpine adventure.
