About Event

Salaam Spaces is going back to TOBERMORY!

Get ready for crystal blue water, thrilling jumping from rocks, suspension bridge adventures, and late-night, world-renowned stargazing! We are taking Friday off work to hit the road for an epic 4-day, 3-night Labour Day weekend escape up the Bruce Peninsula. This is the weekend to make the summer of '26 the best one yet!

We are going to be working together as a group to make sure all necessary tasks are completed to make this trip a success from start to finish. Roles and responsibilities will be delegated by trip organizers in advance to make sure the division of labour throughout the trip is evenly distributed, drivers who are taking 3 or more people with them in their car will be provided a preferred workload.

Modesty & Safety

We pool logistical resources out of safety and cost necessity, but Islamic boundaries (Adab & Haya) are structurally maintained throughout the trip:

  • 🚗 Carpooling & Cabins: Mixed gender carpools will be a maximum of 2 men in the front 3 sisters in the back. Upon arrival, genders immediately separate to their independent living quarters.

  • 🌊 Segregated Activities: Excursions are done in a synchronized block for safety, but genders typically remain naturally segregated during hikes and activities.

  • 🏊‍♀️ Private Swimming: Sisters have private swimming sessions (supervised by a male admin strictly for safety compliance).

  • 🍱 Dinner & Socials: Dinners are prepped on rotation to save costs, but meals are typically eaten in a segregated manner. Everyone is free to retreat to their own quarters at any point.

Segregation Safety Net: All activities are structured to be as segregated as possible. If more sisters volunteer to drive prior to the trip, we will be able to upgrade the carpool splits to further support this!
