About Event

It's Hacktoberfest season - join PUGS this month to do something different!

Date: Friday 3 October 2025
Time: 1830 - 2030
Venue: Onsite at library@harbourfront (Programme Zone 2) | Online at http://computing.sg/goto/pugsmeet

For the month of October, PUGS is planning to shift away from the typical end-of-month meetup format that focuses solely on talks. Instead, join PUGS this Hacktober to experiment with members and collaborate on Python-related open source projects! These projects could range from established frameworks to repositories initiated by individual high school students. The format welcomes contributors of all skill levels, from beginners to experts.

You may attend one or more of the sessions. We will guide beginners while other users and/or project owners can get started right away. Get started by registering at https://hacktoberfest.com (you will need a free GitHub/GitLab account). For those who wish to contribute towards PyConSG 2026 website, the repo is at https://github.com/pythonsingapore/pycon-2026. If you have an interesting idea, you may also park your project with https://github.com/pythonsingapore/hacktoberfest.

Happy hacktobering! :)

About Hacktoberfest

Hacktoberfest is an annual event that encourages people to contribute to open source throughout October. Much of modern tech infrastructure relies on open-source projects built and maintained by passionate people who often don’t have the staff or budgets to do much more than keep the project alive. Hacktoberfest is all about giving back to those projects, sharpening skills, and celebrating all things open source, especially the people that make open source so special.

Each year Hacktoberfest gets a new look, but the mission remains the same - getting as many people as possible involved in open source. Thousands of people, coders and non-coders alike, have participated in Hacktoberfest to support the projects they use and love, learn and practice skills that will enhance their careers, and meet new people who love open source as much as they do.
