Going Closer to the Ground: Lessons from Funding Grassroots | DPW 2026 Virtual Session
About Dasra Philanthropy Week 2026, Mumbai:
As India advances toward its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, progress will be shaped by how deeply the country listens to its communities and how intentionally philanthropy amplifies them. India for the World, World for India reflects this belief: that solutions grounded in lived experience and civil society leadership can accelerate India’s development and inspire beyond its borders. Dasra Philanthropy Week builds on this momentum by convening changemakers to elevate community insights, address systemic barriers, and drive collective action toward a more inclusive and future-ready India.
About The Session
This session brings together Rajiv Khanna, Adam Khorakiwala, Rati Forbes and Anuradha Ranjan for an honest conversation on what funding grassroots actually looks like in practice. Through personal journeys, real dilemmas, and hard-earned lessons, speakers reflect on why they chose to move closer to communities, what has worked, and what challenged their assumptions along the way. Moving beyond ideas of grassroots as small or risky, the discussion aims to highlight how trust-based, flexible support at the ground level can unlock deep, durable impact and why, for many funders, it has become the most meaningful way to give.
