Releasing the Superwoman Cape
Join us for a reflective and supportive conversation honoring strength, care, and leadership lessons we can learn from the experience of Black Women.
🌸 From Survival to Self-Preservation
The Strong Black Woman “Superwoman” cape was forged through generations of survival, resilience, and responsibility. While this legacy reflects deep strength, it can also show up today as:
Over-functioning
Emotional suppression
Burnout
This session creates space to reflect on how inherited resilience has quietly become self-sacrifice—and why so many Women of Color feel exhausted despite their success.
Together, we’ll explore a gentle but powerful shift: honoring our ancestors’ resilience while choosing wellness, boundaries, and self-preservation as the next expression of leadership.
🎤 Guest Speaker: Kamilah Thomas, LCSW
Kamilah Thomas is a licensed psychotherapist and organizational mental health and wellness strategist with over 18 years of experience supporting high-achieving leaders.
A self-described Recovering Superwoman, she helps individuals move beyond burnout by building inner alignment, healthier boundaries, and sustainable definitions of success—proving that success doesn’t have to come at the cost of well-being.
🌿In this session, we’ll explore:
The historical roots of the “Superwoman” cape
How generational strength shows up in work and leadership today
The cost of over-functioning and emotional suppression
Wellness, boundaries, and rest as leadership practices
