​THE STORY

​The Gowanus Canal Thing is a creature of deep mystery, but they are not a mystery to the Royal Palms… Late one night, the Canal Thing reared their deep green and brown, algae and ivy body from these local depths upon a Royal Palms staff member. Much to this person's relief, the Canal Thing expressed curiosity, kindness, perhaps a tinge of jealousy at the joy they witnessed at the masses of people coming and going from the shuffleboard club. The two struck up a deal, with the Royal Palms giving the Canal Thing access to the club after hours, where they could practice and play the game that’s joy they witnessed, night in and night out. We asked of the Canal Thing for an end to their isolation in time, perhaps when they grew comfortable enough to emerge from the Gowanus Canal among the people, perhaps on a night not much unlike halloween! Will the Canal Thing make an appearance as promised?
