Celebrate community, climate action, and environmental justice at the Laurel Court Community Garden!
Free healthy local food courtesy of Crockett Cocina and Olympia Market
Join us for a day of collective stewardship as we honor the legacy of farmworker labor leaders like Larry Itliong. This family-friendly gathering is more than a volunteer even, it is an invitation to practice Embodied Action and Play, where we learn to help the garden grow through joy, culture, and shared art.
The Experience
We are transforming the West quadrant of the garden into a "Living Labyrinth." This is a "No Pressure Participation" environment, volunteers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to move at their own pace, connect with the soil, and enjoy the regenerative energy of the space.
Regenerative Action: Help us plant native species like Toyon and Bee plants to support local pollinators.
Arts & Culture: Engage in nature-based crafts, paint garden signs, and contribute to the "Living Labyrinth" pathway.
Food as Medicine: Enjoy a healthy community salad donated by Olympia Market and fresh snap peas, cilantro, and daikon radish harvested directly from the garden.
Legacy & Learning: Connect with local organizers and learn about the intersection of labor history and environmental justice.
A Coalition of Care
This event is a collaborative effort led by California Climate Action Corps (CCAC) Fellow Miranda Shuba in partnership with a diverse group of local stewards and organizations dedicated to Rodeo’s resilience:
Civic Support: Featuring participation and tabling from Stella Gryler and the Office of Assemblymember Wicks.
Site & Soil: Hosted by the Rodeo Citizens Association (RCA) with technical expertise from the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District (CCRCD).
Education & Environment: Supported by the John Swett Unified School District (JSUSD) and the Carquinez Regional Environmental Education Center (CREEC).
Wellness & Art: Facilitated by Cultivating Self and Cosmic Labyrinth, bringing a focus on neuro-regeneration and community wellbeing.
Local Funding: Gratefully supported by the Kiwanis Club and Blue Heart
