Partner launch event: Building Integrated Agriculture demonstration at UBC
Partners & Colleagues,
You are warmly invited to attend the launch of the Building-Integrated Agriculture growing pod as part of the UBC Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) demonstration. The project builds on research and design co-led by UBC partners—Perkins&Will and QuantoTech—turning campus spaces into living demonstrations of hyperlocal, low-carbon food production, and resource circularity.
Agenda:
5-6:00pm (registration, networking & small bites)
Demo tours (growing pod & AgTech innovation)
Culinary treats by UBC Executive Chef featuring pod-grown produce
Research programs and student displays
6-6:30pm (speaking remarks)
UBC welcome & opening remarks (incoming Dean, Dr. Amy Charkowski, UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems)
Project overview, by architecture firm, Perkins&Will (Dr. Mohamed Imam, Sr. Research Lead)
UBC Food Services & research integration (David Speight, UBC Executive Chef & Culinary Director)
6:30-7:00pm - networking & tours
Gratefully supported by: the UBC Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) competitive fund, Agriculture & Agri‑Food Canada’s Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program, and the BC Centre for Agritech Innovation (BCCAI), the project represents a new model for sustainable food systems, healthy building design, and experiential learning.
