Tiles & Type: Local News Day Artwork Unveiling & Reception
An evening reception for local journalists, artists, and folks who support them to meet, snack, and celebrate the recent Local News Day collaboration in Alexandria.
Whether reconnecting with volunteers and partners or meeting others working with arts and journalism in the region, we're looking forward to bringing creative, community-focused people together in one space.
We'll start with an unveiling of the community artwork produced from Local News Day pop-ups in Alexandria this past April. The artwork is a mosaic of 85 wooden tiles, each designed and illustrated by residents on topics and issues they care about. In partnership with The Art League, the artwork is being publicly showcased at the Torpedo Factory Art Center this summer.
We'll also take the opportunity to share ideas for next year's Local News Day and give local arts and journalism leaders a chance to share new developments happening in their neck of the woods.
You can enjoy this after-hours opportunity to explore the latest exhibit in The Art League gallery with light refreshments provided.
