Still Life from The Garden
A mixed media still life workshop inspired by seasonal garden flowers, foliage and natural forms. Working from fresh cuttings or personal references, you’ll explore drawing and painting with a focus on colour, composition and expressive mark-making. Suitable for all levels, it’s a relaxed, creative day in an inspiring rural setting.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Our inspiration will be taken from seasonal cuttings from the adjacent farm garden, or alternatively you may wish to develop designs of your own choosing by bringing along images of flowers and foliage. We will also reference the work of artists such as Debbie George, Mary Fedden and Emma Dunbar.
Alison will guide you through a range of exciting mixed media approaches, including drawing and painting, where there will be few, if any, rules.
YOUR TUTOR The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler of Blooming Designs. With over 30 years’ experience as a textile designer and illustrator, Alison will support you in exploring colour, composition and expressive mark-making.
THE VENUE The workshop will take place in the Stables at Meon Springs, a peaceful and inspiring space set within a beautiful working farm in the Meon Valley.
WHO IS IT FOR? This workshop is suitable for those with a range of creative experience, from beginners to more experienced artists, with a maximum group size of 6 people.
