This generation of dads want to be present, amazing dads. But they haven't lost their ambition at work either. It's tough, and no one's giving them the training to navigate it.
Organisations have built maternity mentors, women's networks, senior sponsors. For dads, none of that exists.
There's no role, no structure, no one whose job it is to say: I've been through it, let me help you through it.
The return to work moment, the weeks and months after, is one of the biggest challenges and opportunities of a man's career.
But 99% of companies have no specific structured help for dads to take advantage of it. This isn't deliberate, but it's needed more now than ever. Ironically, it's even tougher for those with good paternity leave.
This is an all-male room for a reason. Not enough senior men have stood up to say this matters. We need male advocates for this, and right now the roles for them simply don't exist.
